Backup and recovery additional backup locations
Backup and recovery additional backup locations
Fred,
Can you make Backup and recovery able to back up to a folder on a NAS? Also it only shows one hard drive C: and not a second drive that happens to be E: in this case that the user files are stored on.

On the second point I guess it doesn’t really matter so much because it’s smart enough to follow the changed location of the user folders.

Hi Bill.
Yes, it can detect changed user folders. I made it show the System drive as the root of the folders list because usually we only backup files from there, but you re right. I will make it browse for folders anywhere.

Re: Backup and recovery additional backup locations
I just got a chance to try the new backup tool. I agree with Bill. Being able to back to a NAS in my book is required, not just a request. Sorry to be so blunt but NAS or other network location is a must.

Re: Backup and recovery additional backup locations
I don't actually use a NAS (well, I use my main computer as a NAS but only in reading mode) but I'm thinking of buying one. So for now it's fine for me but yes it would be nice if we could backup/recover to/from a network share.
Anyway, that's a great addition to uvk, nice job Fred !
(I've only tested it for backup for now (not recover), but the interface is nice and I like the features you provide)

Re: Backup and recovery additional backup locations
Yea I like the way it looks myself and I like the concept but for me network back up is absolutely critical. So, I have not gotten past that yet. Once that is added I will be testing much more on it

Re: Backup and recovery additional backup locations
Jim, there was a bug preventing from backing up to a network location. I've already fixed it and will upload a new beta soon.
