Ultravirus Killer 5.9.0.0 last update not working windows 8

Post by gls9000 »

Hello, I never ever posted anything anywhere since 2003, this is my very first post ever anywhere..

Just decided to post because I can see the author of UltraVirus Killer is like me, He shows passion and loves what he does, I can see the trends on the updates and know where he is headed. It is obvious he is truly dedicated to making this software the best and he reminds me. When I start a project I go for the top even though is lots of work... GREAT WORK

BUG REPORT -> just downloaded the new portable version and it fails to open in WIN 8 PRO, " A PROBLEM CAUSED THE PROGRAM TO STOP WORKING" ULTRA VIRUS KILLER HAS STOPPED WORKING

ALFREDO -->

RECOMMENDATIONS - FEATURE TO RESET TO DEFAULT SETTINGS for Firefox & Chrome browsers, IE is already there

I HONESTLY THINK YOU HAVE DONE AN OUTSTANDING JOB, I WILL DEFINATELLY PURCHASE YOUR PROGRAM, AS I WOULD LIKE IT WITH MY PC REPAIR COMPANY NAME

THANKS,

Ernesto

Hi Ernesto, welcome.

Thanks for reporting the bug, and for your kind words.

I know the 5.9 version needed more work, but I had to rush releasing it because an important bug had been found.

More info here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=693

I will release a new build tomorrow where evreything should be fixed.

Hi again Ernesto.

I uploaded a beta build, with some new features and bug fixes.

Would you mind trying it out and see if the crashing bug on Windows 8 is fixed?

I will definitely ad the features you suggested soon. For now you can use the Avast! browser cleanup builtin app, in the system repair section, for the effect.

Many thanks for all your help.

Yeah, I was not sure which of the 2 UVK Beta 5.? or Malwarebytes AntiRoot Beta was causing the problem with the network connections so I dropped both for a while.

NEW BUG--> not sure if it has been fixed in the new version 5.9.?.? but on 5.9.0.0 my licensed version of UVK does not load on some windows 8 machines, however it loads the regular UVK trial version.

Great work, Hope you consider adding the Firefox, Chrome browsers to reset back to default settings.

Thanks,
Ernesto

OK, the crashing on some windows 8 machines has been fixed in Version 5.9.1.0, luckyli it was crashing on my own machine so I was able to test it right away..

Thanks,
Ernesto

Thanks.

As for the new bug (license key not working in some Windows 8 machines), I think I know what may be the cause, but I still wonder why it's never been reported before...

Anyway, I've already fixed what I think it may be causing the issue, and I will release a new beta for testing soon.

How do you think I should make it reset Chrome and FF? Reset everything, including cookies and cache, or just the preferences, extensions and plugins?

Thanks again for all your help.

I would have to say everything because the problems lay in preferences, extensions and cookies, not sure about the plugins but I believe they automatically will reload if erased due to the fact they are most likely installed on the computer..
