Suggestion List!

Hello,

I am a self employed technician and had snapped up UVK when I heard about it. The automation being a priority, and more affordable than D7 to say the least, though so far I am yet to properly dig into getting third party programs but I am very pleased with it and glad that I bought it. The updates each time are quite impressive, so I have made it a point to write down any ideas that have come to mind that might be of use to you.

So far, I have come up with this:

- Customer Report: The Professional report is very impressive, but what would be awesome is a customer report, if possible. Giving details of the repair that has taken place, technical perhaps, but not necessarily too in depth, more like a before and after, such as with the junk file cleanup report.

- S.M.A.R.T. Test: This would be very handy as one of the preliminary tasks, I know that some programs could be automated to pop up, but this feature would be very good if added to the report.

- Alayse Defrag: This might be handy. Analyse and report on the fragmentation %. And/or, a report on the before & after percentages when running the Defrag task.

- Highest & Lowest Temp: Just a suggestion. As a preliminary diagnosis task, it would be very good to have to be able to spot an overheating problem. Though I know that to gather a highest and lowest temp would need the data to be gathered over time, so perhaps a current temp would be easier and more effective.

- Chkdsk Required? Test: I believe the Windows Repair Tool now has an option to test if a chkdsk would be needed. I haven't tried this very well, I think it is just a read-only 3/3 scan perhaps with a report. I think this would also be very impressive.

These are just suggestions, so don't be afraid to shoot them down, but I think these would definitely give UVK something unique that even D7 wouldn't as a technicians tool. These would be on my wishlist anyway.

I hope this helps!

Another thing I hadn't mentioned, I had come across a bug, perhaps this was a one-off, but after an ADW cleanup and the computer restarting, the process seemed to start over again at the top of the list of anti-virus software once the pc rebooted, instead of continuing on from ADW to the remaining tasks. I may as well mention it now also!

Thanks again,

Darran.

Hello MCD IT, welcome.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm currently buried in work, but I'll see what I can come up with. Some of the suggestions seem very useful.

As for the reboot continue repair operation, have you tried the new beta? The last stable versions had some bugs in tha System repair section caused by the large number of features added. If not please try it out and let me know.

Thanks again.

MCD IT.....I like your suggestions and I think they would be useful.

Fred is awesome about listening to suggestions. He may not always implement a suggestion but from what I have seen he almost always does....

As far as the beta goes, it is my opinion that you should always use the beta.... The software is not mission critical so it would not hurt to run across a bug and it helps Fred confirm his betas are working. Not to mention all the cool stuff is in the betas first :)

Updating from a beta to a stable usually don't work very well..... ask Fred about me bugging him LOL :)

Jim

Thank you! I will do, certainly. I should say, as of the latest update ADW now works like a charm. :D

For what it's worth, I think the ideas are good ones. I haven't had time to really sit and analyze the professional report. I was hoping to find sufficiently stable points to parse out and rewrite what I wanted to pass to the client as a summary. The other items seem to be pretty functional as well & you've got my 2 cents in your cup.
