Hello Fred, and greetings to everyone.

Post by Brink »

I'm Brinkley,
I am a computer repair technician in Pensacola FL. USA. I find Fred's tool "UVK" very useful in diagnosing and repairing virus & spyware/malware infections. It seems these days that over 90% of what I do is clean infected machines.

People bring them to me because I'm not the typical wipe and reload kind of tech. There are situations where that is the only approach possible, but folks really seem to appreciate getting their system back mostly intact. The wipe and reload option is easy for the tech, that's for sure, but in my area the people I deal with have a hard time with things like re-install printers, connect the wifi, find and reinstall the programs they used to have etc. UVK has simplified the process of cleaning a machine. I like your program Fred, Keep up the good work.

Hi Brinkley, welcome. I prefer to repair than to wipe and reload too, when possible.

It's been long since the last time I could not repair a machine, and had to reinstall the operating system. Ironically, it was my personal development laptop.

UVK surely helps with the repair/cleanup. In fact my first step when I start repairing a machine, is to insert my USB stick which contains all three UVK packages and a few UVK scripts. Nothing else. And I rarely need to download anything else.

I'm very pleased that you like UVK and hope you continue to use it in your jobs.
One thing we humans have in common is that we are all different. So, if you think you're weird because you're different from everyone else, then we are all weird.
