Minor SFX issue

Post by virtualnetwork »

When running the SFX archive UVKPortable.exe, two shortcuts will appear on the desktop, the branded and the UVK shortcut.

Thanks, virtualnetwork. I will fix that for the next update.

Still getting two shortcuts on the desktop. And the tooltip shows the company name in duplicate.

Sorry about that. It seems I'll have to go dig deeper to figure out this one.

Still not resolved in v. 10.4.0.0. Will you fix this for the next update? And could you add an option to create a branded version of the SFX archive, perhaps with some auto-delete function so that customers won't be able to run it? Thanks.

This issue is now fixed in version 10.4.1. You also have a check box to enable branding the SFX package's icon.

I'm troubleshooting what might be a minor issue. Seems like sometimes it decompresses without its license/branding but the next time it doesn't. Looking for a pattern....

Working fine for me here. tested decompression more than ten times. Uninstalled first on most of them.

Thank you Fred. It's working well now. This will make it easier to deploy UVK remotely.

Xander, I haven't run into this issue. Did you uninstall and remove any remnants from previous versions?

It happened first on a remote PC and, later, on my host PC. I haven't been able to recreate it since.
Wouldn't 'remnants' have made it more likely that the licensing info/etc was present, not missing?

Maybe, maybe not. If the uninstall process was malfunctioning, there is no telling what remnants it would leave behind.

On the other hand, if the right stuff was left behind, you could very well be right.

Could it be that you were using an earlier SFX package on the two PCs where it happened, but can't recreate the issue with a new SFX package?

I run a scheduled batch to create a new one every morning so unless it was from the version immediately before it....
