Something changed. I’m not sure when this broke but it is working fine with UVK version 9.6.8.1 Can you take a look when you have time and see what you find? I would appreciate it.

Hi Bill.
Hum, that's working fine for me. Jeez, that added like 15k entries to my hosts file. Doesn't it slow your internet connection down?
Anyway, check if you have the hosts file or the driver files immunized, it doesn't work if you do.

One thing we humans have in common is that we are all different. So, if you think you're weird because you're different from everyone else, then we are all weird.

Nope, nothing is immunized. The only reason I had version 9.6.8.1 is because I forgot my USB drive when I went to this place and was able to find an old USB drive I had in my van. It had UVK portable version on it so I copied it to the desktop and let it update and MVPS host wouldn’t work. So I uninstalled it (10.2.2.0) and re copied 9.6.8.1 to the desktop again and it worked just fine. I let it update again to 10.2.2.0 and it didn’t work. It’s not a big deal though. It’s only on two computers. This person heard of it on the “Kim Komando” Show on the radio and insisted I put it on their two computers. So I added to my third party apps so I could easily update now and then. It’s not a big deal I will just update it manually now and then. I had not look at it in a long time and you are correct that it is a bunch of entries. It doesn’t seem to slow it down though. It was a Windows 7 x86 computer. I just tried it on my own Windows 10 x64 computer and it works fine. Don’t worry about it. Thanks Fred!

Bill,
Why don't you just add a PiHole to your local network and let it due the work of all those DNS entries?

LOL! Is that a cousin to “Pie hole”? I never heard of a “PiHole”. I will look into it but this lady loves the “Kim Komando” show and is always trying things she hears on the show. Honestly she’s one of those people you don’t really want to hear from. I ended up there because of a noisy power supply. Oh well, off to look into a “PiHole”.

Bill, I just noticed you are referring to the latest version as 10.2.2, while it is in fact 10.2.3. Do you mind to test with version 10.2.3 and tell if it works now? Thanks.

Bill
Pihole is a DNS server that runs on a Raspberry pi. The device cost about $50 and pihole is free. For me it blocks about 10 - 15 percent of my daily traffic as ads and because it's a DNS server it works for all devices on your network.

Jim,
I’m not really having issues with ads on my own network but I wonder if this is basically the same thing you’re talking about. I’m running DD-WRT firmware on all my routers and could use this http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Ad_blocking on my main router. It says its host-based ad blocking via DNS. Maybe I will mess with it some cold winter day and see how it works.
