What do you guys use for diagnostic/repair in uefi ? (harddisk testing, password reset, etc...)

I'm tired to have to switch to legacy boot to do some testing and then re-switch to uefi after tests are done.
(Plus some tests cannot be done in legacy mode if the system is using uefi and secure boot.)

Anyway, I'm using a WinPE based iso, and DART, but that doesn't cover all my needs.

First off, UEFI sucks. It's getting to the point where my windows 7 live disk won't work on new computers. The last couple i have fooled with, I ran built-in diagnostics and pulled the hard drive for testing and data recovery...

I'm very interested in ideas too.

Remember two tin cans with a string between them? Life used to be much less complicated.

Well, UEFI is not that bad (it's more userfriendly, it break the bios limitation of 2.2TB for harddisks, it's faster to boot, the firmware can be larger in size, ...), the problem is more the secure boot that was introduced by microsoft.

I do like the mouse support that is primarily UEFI related. The faster to boot makes hitting keys harder to utilize. The Large firmware could be a good thing if we really need to the BIOS to stand alone. Drives larger than 2.2TB? Most decent boards have 4 to 6 SATA headers..... 8 to 12 TB.... That's a lot of pirated movies.... go walk a little bit and get out the house :)

The secure boot really does suck though.... being introduced by Microsoft it prolly doesn't work.
