Spent a few minutes resetting IE and scanning the registry when I suddenly realized it was the shortcut itself that still pointed to the crap homepage. Seen it before but hadn't had one of these for a couple of months.
Could UAK identify these shortcuts on the taskbar and desktop? I'm sure it can't scan for every possible site but could it identify that shortcuts are non-default ("iexplore http://crapsite.com") ?

Re: UAK - identify customized browser shortcuts on desktop/taskbar
UAK already does that. If the shortcut is not detected, it would be useful to post it and its path so I can identify why wasn't it detected. Thanks.
One thing we humans have in common is that we are all different. So, if you think you're weird because you're different from everyone else, then we are all weird.

Re: UAK - identify customized browser shortcuts on desktop/taskbar
I think I figured it out. UAK would not detect iexplore http://crapsite.com because it searches for file name and extension. i.e. it would detect iexplore.exe http://crapsite.com or "C:\Program files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" http://crapsite.com.
I will move this topic to the bug reports forum, where it belongs.

I've already unpinned it from the laptop's taskbar but I can't recall its exact phrasing. I had run UAK a couple of times with other scans (one manual, one in the automated set) and it hadn't caught it.
FWIW, ADW and MBAM both missed it, too.
