SimplySync_ErrorLog Question

Post by wmmiller »

Hi Fred,

What would cause SimplySync to not be able to read local files?

There were some others on a different computer that had. !, ) – “ in the name. I haven’t even looked into those yet. Are there certain characters and/or limits on the length of path? Some of the path names get kind of long on a few automotive service manuals.

Hi Bill.

Thanks for bringing this up. Those files are in fact reparse points. They exist since Windows Vista for compatibility with Windows Xp. The just point to other file objects, usually directories. They are usually locked, and applications can not open them for copying. Maybe I should make the application just skip those files?...
One thing we humans have in common is that we are all different. So, if you think you're weird because you're different from everyone else, then we are all weird.

Hi Fred,

Skip those files or characters? I’m not sure exactly what you mean. Some of the manuals are interactive and may or may not work without them.
