Fred, have you been seeing any of this crap going around? I haven’t run into it myself, but people are sure talking about it right now.

Just a thought. :idea:
I wonder if one could clone the infected drive and isolate it to stop the clock on this thing and then hope like hell a fix that will truly work comes along if all else fails.

Hi Bill. Sorry for the delay. Been away from home for a few days.

Yes, those cryptolocker viruses are very common. Kaspersky has a few decryptors. You can find them here:
http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/utility

I know how encryption works, and I could probably build a decryptor, but unfortunately I haven't came across any sample I can use to test.

If you know where I can find a sample, please let me know.
