Can UAK handle Group Policy changes?

Post by Xander »

Was just reading about a nasty PUP that makes changes to the Group Policy:
https://blog.malwarebytes.org/security- ... t-browser/

The PUP changes search engines (common) but also goes into Policies and blocks changing it back (new to me).

Changing it back in GPEdit seems pretty straightforward but thought I'd ask if UAK is able to handle this already?

Hi Xander.

Yes, those are covered by UAK, and also by UVK's Autorun Manager. That is also the method used by the System immunization to prevent changes to IE's search providers. Using this method coupled with the Group policies immunization will make it really hard for Adware to make changes to the search providers.
One thing we humans have in common is that we are all different. So, if you think you're weird because you're different from everyone else, then we are all weird.
