Can't create local profile

Fred

I tried to use the easy user manager earlier today on a Windows 10 box. The tool said it failed to create the local account but, the account actually did show up in windows. It seemed as though it did work even though EUM said it did not.

Hi Jim.

It seems the user account was added to SAM, but the User profile could not be created. Sometimes this can be fixed with a (real, not hybridl) system reboot. I should have documented that the machines should be rebooted prior to user account creation because hybrid shutdown sometimes really messes up the system.

I also had some cases were no new user account could login after creation, and that was easily fixed with a Windows 10 reinstall keeping personal files and apps.

I will keep that all in mind.

However, this computer, was one I was working on and had been rebooted several times prior to this. From EUM I went directly to the users in control panel and it was there. I immediately rebooted to log into that user instead of trying to switch users so I couldn't tell you is the reboot was required or not.

Well, I don't know what happened, then. It's working fine for me. Both the standalone app and the one built into UVK.

Well, technically it did work fine. It's just that it told me it did not work but it actually worked just fine. I suspect it's only a Windows 10 issue in the way it really tries to keep you from creating local accounts and may not return the values that you are expecting it to, therefore throwing a fake error. That's just my guess.
