Tech Tool Store not updating in root of drive

Post by Fred »

Important note for TTS users:

If you're running TTS from the root of a drive and you are using an older version than 4.8.6, you may need to manually download and update your TechToolStore.exe file, because the auto-update feature was failing in that situation due to a bug.

The issue was fixed in version 4.8.6 and the application should now be able to auto-update itself in any writeable directory, including the root of volumes and network locations. Sorry for the inconvenience.
One thing we humans have in common is that we are all different. So, if you think you're weird because you're different from everyone else, then we are all weird.

The same bug was present in UVK, because the download related code is shared by both applications., which means UVK was not being able to download files to the root of a drive. This affected the auto-update feature as well, if the Install source package was located in the root of the drive.

The issue is now fixed in version 10.6.3, but users may need to manually update their old packages, if they are in the root of a drive. (did I just say "root of a drive" three times?).

Anyway, sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for understanding.
