.RAR and .7Z Support

Post by ACS »

Does UVK support extracting .RAR and .7Z files from third party apps? If not then maybe add this as a Feature Request. I would like to use the Sophos Virus Removal Tool and MalwareBytes Anti-Rootkit as part of the System Repair process.

Thanks once again, and sorry for loading up the forums today. I just got some free time to really inspect this program and its full potential.

Hi ACS.

No, UVK does not support extracting RAR and 7Zip files. Never needed that feature anyway. Not sure why you would need it for MalwareBytes Anti-Rootkit or Sophos Virus Removal Tool, since both downloads are EXE files.

MalwareBytes Anti-Rootkit download:

URL: http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mbar/
DOWNLOAD TYPE: Direct download

OR

URL: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Removal-Tools/Malwarebytes-Anti-Rootkit.shtml
DOWNLOAD TYPE: Softpedia page

DOWNLOAD FILE: %ThirdParty%\MalwarebytesAntiRootkit.exe
COMMAND 1: %ThirdParty%\MalwarebytesAntiRootkit.exe -y
CHECK: Wait for all child processes to end before moving to the next command

Sophos Virus Removal Tool download:

URL: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Sophos-Anti-Rootkit.shtml
DOWNLOAD TYPE: Softpedia page
DOWNLOAD FILE: %ThirdParty%\ShophosVRT.exe
COMMAND 1: %ThirdParty%\ShophosVRT.exe

Adding 7-zip support would not be toohard, but there's an issue with the RAR license. The authors don't allow its use, because WINRAR is not free software.
One thing we humans have in common is that we are all different. So, if you think you're weird because you're different from everyone else, then we are all weird.
