Tonight I got a tough computer that would not load anything. I couldn't run any sort of updates and I couldn't solve the issue with SFC. It kept telling me that SFC found corrupt files but could not fix them. Here's when I did.
I opened CMD in Admin mode.
Type:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
This took about 45 minutes on my machine but it fixed everything.
Is this a feature we already have and I didn't know it?

Hey FredJ.
That's not really a feature. It's a command. I could add that command as a new fix, but I'm not sure if I should. Because the command takes long to complete, less experienced users could kill it or shut down before it completes, and then it would be a real mess. I'd like to hear other people thoughts.

One thing we humans have in common is that we are all different. So, if you think you're weird because you're different from everyone else, then we are all weird.

A new fix would be fine. Maybe make a pop up warning in big bold red letters. I see it often where SFC found corrupt files but could not fix them.

I would say 99.9%of the time SFC finds errors but can't fix them. I find SFC to be mostly useless.

True. But I think that's an SFC bug. That's why I don't make UVK care about what it says in the end.Charger440 wrote:I would say 99.9%of the time SFC finds errors but can't fix them.
I don't. SFC has fixed tons of issues for me, even in the new Windows 10. I would advise you don't drop it, as you may regret it.Charger440 wrote:I find SFC to be mostly useless.

Oh, I still use it from time to time hoping it will actually fix something.

I use it a bunch and don’t worry too much about it saying it can’t fix things as long as the computer is functioning well.

I use it when SFC fails. I'd actually like if UVK could tell if SFC has failed and have the option to then launch DISM.
Maybe an SFC fix and a separate SFC/DISM fix?

I'm on board with that... maybe make that a paid feature since Fred is correct in thinking the general public maybe should not be playing with that option?

Re: Corrupt file repair
I see SFC found and can't fix sometimes too. Often enough that a fix would be in order. DISM fix command that Fred C mentioned only works on 8, 8.1 and 10 though. Just something worth noting.
