I'm mostly done with it but she's not picking it up until tomorrow later afternoon (EST).
Would there be any value in adding a verbose option to loadup? Say, if Ctrl was pressed, it would show more info than just "syncing the INI" to narrow down where the long delay is coming from?

Re: System lockup on UVK load
Got an HP laptop on the workbench which did it (so I have time to poke at it if needed). Locked up completely in regular Windows (8.1 in this case) so forced it off and on. This was during the splash screen and before the main window loaded but did not take not of which phase it was in. Rebooted it ...

MultipleRebootScheduler ... add a boot timer?
Was doing a remote job yesterday for a client who said "it takes like 30 minutes to boot up" so I went looking for a boot timer. Ended up using this one at Windows Club . It did the job but, this morning, I got to thinking how it might have been nice to use a tool I already had so.... coul...

System lockup on UVK load
Had this a month or two ago during a service call but wrote it off as a one-time glitch but had it this morning, again during a service call. The UVK Loading screen would come up and the arrow would circle but the system becomes otherwise completely unresponsive and the only option was to shut it of...

"Sending of FTP reports was cancelled" but they go out
Just so you know:
I've got "Send reports" in the Top Apps as pretty much the first thing done. When run, the event window says "...was cancelled" but then sends them out. It's been doing this for a while now but remembered to post it today.

Re: Net work features
And I was assuming it has something to do with SMB 1.0 being disabled because re-enabling it on a couple of systems seemed to do the trick. PCs weren't seeing my older NAS (running SMB1) But, rather than leaving PCs with a potentially unsafe service running, I just switched to running UVK off of a f...

Re: Introducing Account Profile Fixer
It started acting up after the Creators Update but it might have had some pre-existing issues that the client never noticed. Right now, it's not loading the subsections of Settings so I'm going to try running it again. My own dummy profile had loaded and I'd run APF from there so now I've just resta...

Re: Introducing Account Profile Fixer
Fred, I haven't needed to run the utility until today. Had a PC come in with black screen and cursor and creating a dummy profile logged in. Fired up APF and it wouldn't get past the welcome screens when I tried to keep the appdata info so deleted the temp profile and ran it again without the appdat...

Re: Stop Edge Browser from Restoring Tabs after a Crash
So, I should just tell people that IE and Edge sucks and they have to change or find someone else that will help them? Absolutely, and I do. NOBODY should be running IE (with the sole exception of corporate PCs like some of the banks I service) . Our job as their techs is to make sure they are more...

Re: device manager
So....uninstall ALL devices and force a fresh scan? What purpose would that serve? "...before any app installed" -- but very very few apps install devices. It's not like Adobe Reader cares if you have on ACPI driver installed over another. As part of my fix, I use a program called DeviceCl...

Re: device manager
What does that even mean? Unless all computers are the same, what is a 'default' on one computer will not be the default on any other. Unless it means re-enable all disabled devices and who has that many disabled devices that UVK needs a tool to regularly undo that?

Re: New License
v10.8.0.0 Release date: December 10 2017 Added support for OEM licenses. This is a new, cheap license type that only works in one computer. End users can now enable all UVK features for a low price. Also, techs can now leave UVK installed in the customer machine by purchasing a OEM license for it. ...

Re: RMM Forgive Me
I've been using Comodo One for the last couple of years. It's "just alright" but it's free and, since 90% of my clients are residentials, I don't need much. They've got what they call Procedures that can run scripts on schedules. It's got 3rd party updates but only a limited number of titl...

Re: Fred, What is this??
Those ones look like they are meant for higher speeds - they're much lower. I've not seen those ones anywhere around here (but they've been installing more and more roundabouts in this region in the last few years so...) Residential speed humps would be maybe 2-3' wide, and 4-6" high. You reall...

Re: Fred, What is this??
Here, we would call that a speed Hump because of its width. They're meant to slow down traffic to a reasonable speed (e.g. 20kph). They're not common but you'll find them in residential areas if anything. Speed Bumps are only about 18" wide and taller so you have to come to a near-stop to get o...

Once watermark is closed, stay closed
I've got the watermark set to run when I open UVK - lets me check the hours on the HD and its SMART right off. Once I've got that info, I often close it but, when I go between sections (e.g. into SU) and then 'home' back to the main screen, it restarts. Could it not do that? If UVK ends up restartin...

Re: Windows XP password reset
I find most older PCs always have CD drives (whether they function or not is another matter); it's the newer ones that don't (and that's just laptops). I don't think I've ever seen a desktop that didn't have a CD drive (even those 'Walmart specials' with the mini-mobos and zero expansion options) .....

SU always gets hung up on Skype Click-to-Call
Regular or forced, Smart Uninstaller just spins its wheels on it. While locked up, I opened up Revo and got rid of it. I'm seeing it everywhere and it's locked up pretty much every time without a Cancel option. https://i.gyazo.com/55e90d2665cbe36dd72079611f2b20a0.png Once it's like this, the only op...
