Re: Removes Desktop shortcuts

I found the problem.... sort of....

I was trying to automate that from Ninja and you can have it run as System or logged on user. When run as System it deletes those shortcuts but not as admin. Not sure if there is a way to fix that which sucks...

Re: Removes Desktop shortcuts

I will test your theory tonight and get back with you as soon as I know. I'm limited on what I can do during business hours and since this is not critical to their business, I have to wait til later.

Removes Desktop shortcuts

Fred I have the script in the screenshot below and it removes the Plant files and Kenzies Scans shortcuts from the desktop but does not mess with any others. Any idea why that would be? It shouldn't remove any user created shortcuts. Also, it's opened in Wordpad because opening it log analyzer makes...

Re: Once watermark is closed, stay closed

Xander, I would describe this more as a bug. By your description, it seems Fred checks for the watermark in the opening of the main screen does not take into account you closed it. It should prolly offer the option to reopen as someone may have closed it for a specific task but actually wants it the...

Re: SSD makes

I typically sell either Sandisk or Samsung EVO.

I just replaced a dying Seagate drive with a Sandisk SSD and it almost doubled the perceived speed of the computer. It's amazing how fast they are.

PCIx M.2 drives are even faster.

Re: Firefox add-ons

Fred, You know your 7.1 update is broken right? It appears the new EXE is not there but the update file is telling UVK it is there.

Re: Firefox add-ons

Fred

Just wanted to drop as quick note that should help you out tons....

I just discovered that if you start UVK then disable the immunization through it, you can then add add-ons just fine. So, it appears to be a bug in your stand alone tool.

Firefox add-ons

immunizing the system seems to mess up Firefox and possibly chrome add-ons. It does prevent adding add-ons but once you disable immunization you still can't until you completely reset Firefox. I have known about this bug for a while but had not confirmed it was a bug till now. Also, in the repair se...

Re: Hey Fred

Are you sure your times are accurate? According to this it took 10 minutes for a core i7 to boot.

Just curious, where did you get the name "STORM?" Does it stand for anything?

Re: Nsis Error Launching Installer error

Bill,

Since I am busy today as well, I'll just drop a quick note and say, it IS an installer issue. I kow this because an older one worked fine and George asked you to add a command-line switch to the installer. That switch I am guessing disables the the installer CRC check.

Re: Hey Fred

Yep I remember that tool. In researching what you was referring too, I found this that I thought was interesting as well. https://helgeklein.com/blog/2013/07/analyzing-a-slow-boot-with-windows-performance-recorder-analyzer/ It's either the new version of what you refer or directly related to it. Re: Hey Fred

First thoughts are, I like it. I would recommend anyone that comes into my office get a SSD. They exponentially faster than a spinning drive. However it's hard to convince them to replace their "perfectly fine" drive with a new one. Forgive the stupidity here but, what is Boot tracing opti...

Repair shopr

The last couple times I have tried sending reports to RS I fails with a message about there being no domain for RS.

I have filled in all the info and it shows when the dialog is open but it only refers to a subdomain and not a domain like UVK reports is the failure.

Re: So calm here...

It's always calm in here. I wish it wasn't but I guess people have more important things and bigger forums to hand out in.

Hope you have a full recovery Bill and don't do anything you shouldn't to jeopardize that recovery.
