No prob, Jamie, in fact this topic helped me to find a few mall bugs in UVK, which I'm fixing now.
For the startup entries, I'll need a UVK log from the back office pc just like the one I asked HERE.
Thanks

Re: bugs
Thanks Matt.
I know it's not easy for you to have a computer problem you can't solve, but if you ever have one, post here.
Maybe I can make a script to format your system partition...
Thanks for posting.

Hey do't worry, it's not that serious. I'll explain: The icons and shortcuts in your Start menu (The start button in your taskbar) are placed in your hard drive in 2 locations: 1: C:\Documents and Settings\jamie abernathy\Start Menu This is where your start menu icons and programs shortcuts are plac...

Re: bugs
Some things went wrong. The system restore point could not be created, and the defragmentation wasn't done. More system files missing? Please go to the UVK fixes section, scroll down the Enable and run (Select) combo and click System restore . Did the System restore UI showed up? If it did, does it ...

Re: bugs
Jamie, you can only upload files directly here in the forum if they are pictures. For other types the files must be zipped. But you can zip several files in the same archive and upload. Here's another zipped script. Download and extract it to your desktop. It contains comments on the actions it will...

Re: bugs
OK no prob. I just wanted to check out if it had a bad plugin installed.
The logs are fine, Jamie. No infections. Just some harmless cookies.
I can delete them, but they will come back as you surf the net. But there's no harm at all.

Re: bugs
Ok, thanks for the logs. there's one more thing I'd like you to do: Open UVK and go to the Scan and create log section. Uncheck the following lines: Contents of C:, Application data and Program files Lsa providers and Blocked hosts Recent files [/b] Check Show Microsoft files , in the right pane. Cl...

Re: bugs
Want me to make you a script to make the pc work faster?
You have too many programs on Windows startup. That and some disk fragmentation (if you didn't run the fixes I recommended lastly) is what is making it slow. With your CPU and 2 GB of physical RAM, you pc should work fast on xp.

Re: bugs
Oh, sorry, I could have been more clear. By deleting with the Windows explorer I meant delete the folders/files normally by right-click >> Delete. Firstly, they are moved to the recycle bin, as I'm sure you know. So, these can be recovered while you don't empty the recycle bin. The same happens to t...

Re: bugs
Well, Msn you can simply uninstall it from the Control panel >> Ad/Remove programs. It's the best way. The rest, yes you can delete with UVK or using the Windows explorer. When you're sure you don't need them, empty the recycle bin. Do you want to remove the whole mce zipped folder? <ContentsSystemD...

Re: bugs
Yes, you have it. It's a Microsoft program, though. An old one. It's been replaced by Windows live messenger a long time ago. It's used for live chatting between people. It can also be used for remote assistance. I guess that's the reason why they installed it. <HKLM...Uninstall> | MSNINST | MSN | M...

Re: bugs
In fact, I wanted you to really install IE from the IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe file.
But you can check if it's working now, of course. No prob.

Re: bugs
You still didn't say if the SP3 installed with success.
I'm asking this again because I forgot to ask you if the WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe file was in you desktop folder.
In the script I assumed it was.

Re: bugs
I guess the best is to install from the archive (IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe).
It will be another test to check if the install problems are solved.
