Re: Spybot and jetclean
Fred, Yes I still use Spybot. Not because I have any loyalty to it, but rather, I have not hear anything negative about it. It's always a last scan on my list when I'm cleaning a computer. It never finds anything big after I've done all the other scan, mostly just tracking cookes. As for ASC, I like...

IE reset
Not sure if this is a bug report or not. When ever I use the "Reset IE" function and I tell it to remove all personal settings the Homepage is reset to http://www.google.com/ig?brand=TSNA&bmod=TSNA Next time I go to load the IE browser I get a 404 server not available. If I go into the...

Re: Delete Saved Wireless Profiles In Windows 8 Using CMD.ex
Great to know. Thanks. I have a book that I write down CMD commands and what they will do. I will be adding these as well. I wonder if there is a way to add this to UVK. I will have to learn how to add my own scripts.

Re: Spybot and jetclean
Fred J, Take a look at this topic. (What's in your 3rd Party list?) Bill http://www.carifred.com/uvk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=811 I only have what Fred has put in the third party app list. I haven't played with the program enough to add my own things. I tried to add Advanced System Care and S...

Re: Spybot and jetclean
Don't worry Bill. I'm a very open minded person, so I do what you do. I found Jet Clean from another board I talk in, and I found UVK from Technibble. I too find programs based on what others have to say, and at the same time I stop usin some programs based on information I get from others. What I l...

Re: Fred Claus
Bill you should teach others. I had to put a new board in my dishwasher but it took a friend of mine to tell me which board was bad. Now my ice maker is broken in the freezer.

Fred Claus
First let me say, Yes, I am Santa's big brother (check out Fred Claus the movie if you don't know what I'm talking about). I'm a Christian father of 3 from the Buffalo, NY area. My company Husky Logic is a residential brake/fix company, but we do some small/home businesses as well. In addition I am ...

Re: Create installation media for Windows 8.1
Great link Bill. I personally have connected the iso files for all most every os Microsoft has made just in case. It's a pain through with 7 because you need the exact version. Vista has all the versions on 1 file and it just installs what you need based on your client's COA. Microsoft is great thou...

Remote Support Software?
This came up in a post on another board, and I thought I'd start a thread. What remote support service do you use?
Currently I'm using the free version of Zoho Assist
I've looked into Instant HouseCall and that looked good, I just couldn't afford 499.00 a year.

Re: Delete Saved Wireless Profiles In Windows 8 Using CMD.ex
Thanks for the tip. I haven't had that issue in Windows 8 yet so I haven't tried. Is there a way you can use your cmd command to list all the wifi names currently on the computer? I was on a computer using Windows 7 last week and they had 14 different networks.

Currently I'm using Zoho Assist, but I've looked into other. Never heard of SimpleHelp, but their website looks impressive. 295.00 one time fee isn't bad.

Re: Get a Free License for MiniTool Power Data Recovery Pers
A technician's license for this program is 499, but they do still have a free verison. you can only recover 1gb of data from it though. That link is here http://www.powerdatarecovery.com/power-data-recovery-free-edition.html I haven't found a great program for this use yet, but I'm testing this one ...

Re: Rootkit removal with UVK
Fred,
I'm going through old posts and came across this tutorial. Since it's from 2012 is it safe to say it's before TDSS killer was added to the malware section or is this in addition to that part?

Thanks. Can I assume this is a "personal" license so it can't be used as a service in my company to recover data?

Just a questions about this. Can't you do the same thing in the Network section by clicking on Management my wireless networks? I know you can in Win7 but haven't tried it in 8 yet.

Resetting browser homepage
This may already be in there but let me through it out there as it was an issue I ran into yesterday. I had a client computer that would not boot to the Internet. I would get a 404 server not found notice when it loaded. No matter what page I tried to type I would get the same message. My fix was to...

Spybot and jetclean
Two programs I use on a regular basis are SpyBot search and destroy and JetClean (Bluesprig.com). Currently I run Spybot through an app called Portable Apps on the same flash drive I have put UVK on. It would however be a great feature to add to the malware scanner section as something to download a...
