Re: Cloud command line switch automatic sync
AJ, any reason you're not just using the Portable version if you're uninstalling at the end anyway? Just wondering.

Re: Cloud command line switch automatic sync
Thanks for the confirmation, Fred. I like the sync regardless as, every now and then, I get a PC that refuses to see the NAS and I'd rather deal with other problems first so run UVK from a flash drive. It's just comforting to know that all the settings sync up regardless of how and where I'm running...

Re: UVK Portable and Configure immunization icon when uninstalling
If a tech is the one putting limitations on what can and can't be run on a client's system, that tech is responsible for followup questions. A tech can't drop something like UVKimmunize or CryptoPrevent on someone's PC and expect the client to pay for problems arising because of that. That would be ...

Re: UVK Portable and Configure immunization icon when uninstalling
Exactly. All it takes is one checkbox in the Options section. I don't use the Immunization so it's moot to me anyway -- I don't want to be doing free tech support for some guy I serviced 8 months ago just because he's having trouble installing a poker game now.

Re: desktop watermark
Just thinking out loud. Why would an end user (unless told) go looking in the start menu for anything if they were having trouble installing something? Because we told them that's where to look. Same reason they'd look on the desktop for something called "Immunization Configuration". Your...

Re: Cloud command line switch automatic sync
Doesn't UVK draw those settings from the UVKSettings.ini? I use the Portable from my NAS as well and I just keep that file in the same folder. My understanding was that if those files are present in the launch folder, they get used. Maybe Fred could confirm that.

Actually, I'd prefer a Start Menu icon over a desktop one.

Re: Smart uninstaller white/black list manager functionality
Nice. Thanks, Fred. I checked a couple that were mislabeled and hit the Toggle but it only did the one that was highlighted. That's alright but can I suggest the wording be "Toggle Highlighted" to save confusion?

Re: Smart uninstaller white/black list manager functionality
I've done the same but would settle for a "toggle selected" button in the Manager window.ajgyomber wrote:I accidentally whitelisted some stuff I wanted to blacklist if memory serves me correctly and I want to move them to the blacklist is impossible. This feature would be very handy!

Re: 9.6.1.0
Thanks. Once I'd submitted and re-read it, it rang a bell but haven't had a chance to look for it. Side question, Fred: Got on in that I'm pretty certain is the old upperfilter/lowerfilter problem for CD/DVD. I rarely see that anymore but could there be a fix for that in the System Repair section? (...

Automated SR is sticking at the Send Reports and, once done, just goes back to the Home screen. While nothing has changed in my PCRT setup for months (haven't even upgraded to the newest version yet), UVK specs are no longer importable. I suspect the format has changed and isn't being parsed anymore...

Blank wallpaper while UVK runs?
Just got one on the bench with a ridiculous wallpaper - it hurts the eyes and the desktop icons blend in. That got me thinking -- it might be nice if, from the time UVK starts to the "Uninstall?" window comes up, if it could remove the wallpaper (and, obviously, put it back when done). Wha...

Re: Couple quick issues
Yup, the SR. I never even considered using the Skip Monitoring since those windows have their own Home buttons. There aren't any circumstances where I'd want to keep those two windows running while other processes go on. Neither of them take very long normally so I either let them run or, worst case...

Re: Couple quick issues
The first cloud settings window. To me it just seems really odd to click "X" when I'm done. I think an "OK" or "Done" button would feel more natural there. The SU and UAK windows work the same way. You have to X out of them to go back to the automated set; hitting Home...

Re: Fairly clean install (VM) - "cleaning junk" running for almost two hours
The nice thing about the current version is that I can actually type in the "cleaning up" text area to mark the time.
Here's a shot of it. Tooltip of failed cleanup, doing junk files for almost two hours.

Re: Fairly clean install (VM) - "cleaning junk" running for almost two hours
Previous info was from VM. Problem is I don't usually watch these steps but I'm only just using 9.5.5 in production in the last day or so. Just did a clean install of Win7 on a desktop here and %temp% has a single file on it. Running the same ones I just mention checking off above and, while "c...

Re: Fairly clean install (VM) - "cleaning junk" running for almost two hours
It was sitting at cleaning junk but the tooltip was about the browser cache. Went to re-run those steps with just those ones checked off (backup reg, empty all users, empty browsers, cleanup junk) and the reg backup has gone non-responding right off the bat.

Re: Fairly clean install (VM) - "cleaning junk" running for almost two hours
3 hours and I finally hit the Red-X which, surprisingly, didn't kill the process but stopped the cleanup, opened up Reports (nowhere near the next step in the SR) and then let me go back to Home. Side note: backing up the registry also took a very long time (I think 15 mins?) but eventually moved on...

Fairly clean install (VM) - "cleaning junk" running for almost two hours
This is a simple VM with practically nothing on it; barely used. I installed a program that I know would take over the browser search options and running UVK to do the cleanup. 9.5.5 has been running the cleanup for <2 hours now. To make matters worse, the Cancel buttons are greyed out so that's not...
