Re: Load default settings, scripts and whitelists from files
You're not going to hear me complaining. Nice thing about this is that, for those doing remote work and dropping UVK into a SFX zip, it's less to have to set up - just send the file over and run it with all your preferences in place. (BTW, what is the preferred name for the SR add-ins? They're calle...

Re: Bad RAM?
Okay, just ran it. First observation is that its opening text mentions "Svchost.exe is the most mysterious process in Windows XP/Vista." What about 7 or 8? Then I noticed the timestamp on the .exe says 2010. Hmmm. My system might not be perfect but it's running fine. "113 warnings&quo...

Re: Copying a folder first in an SR action
The 212 wasn't a big deal. I figured it was counting files rather than actions so...no sweat.

Re: Copying a folder first in an SR action
It works because the -only- contents of the zip is a folder containing all the other files. So, it extracts to \Tweaking\ but, when copied, takes the unzipped folder and runs that from the C: drive.
I could have included the \Tweaking\ in the path but it was unnecessary.

System Repair "To run a single fix, just double-click it" runs all checked
Surprised it took me hours of use to see that line. I'd been using the "uncheck all", check one, Run Selected to get single tasks done. Double-clicking individual ones to run is a big time-saver. Well, it would be.... BUT if I double-click a single fix, it first checks it (no problem) and ...

UVKSR entry for Tweaking.com's Repair tool
Not so much a "tutorial" but this seems to be the place to share this stuff.... Paste this line into the "[CustomThirdPartyApps]" section of your UVKSR file of choice. Tweaking.com's Repair (auto)=2 This can be pasted in to the end of your UVKSR. [Tweaking.com's Repair (auto)] De...

Re: Copying a folder first in an SR action
Yeah, I had corrected the directory part - I was trying to keep the paths short but meaningful. Jim, the zip contains a long folder name right off the bat so keeping the paths limited has its advantages. And like I said, I sure the big problem was in the copy (otherwise there would be a folder creat...

Copying a folder first in an SR action
I'm setting up a UVKSR file for Repairs and Tweaking.com's tool is one of the very few I know of that won't run from a network location. So, the current plan is to update the zip, unzip it on the NAS, copy that folder to the C: and then run it there. From the UVKSR: [Tweaking.com's Repair (auto)] De...

Re: Bad RAM?
Might be a nice find. I'll check it out as well. Only -1 that I've spotted so far is that, on the right side of the page, they're recommending a Uniblue product. :/
Re: 7.2.5.0
Nope but a good chunk of features that are in D7 came about because I asked for them. I wasn't afraid to ask then; I'm not afraid to ask now.wmmiller wrote:Are you looking for d7?

Re: UVK Doesn't Survive Reboot
At what point does the shortcut get placed in the startup folder? I just started a simple script and have the folder open to watch. There's no AV on this laptop. Like I said, this is using a script in the Run Script window but I assume that should be no different than running a script by any other m...

Re: Uninstaller Whitelist/Blacklist
Was going to make the same suggestion but I was beaten to it by a year. I was thinking that now that UAK has whitelist support, maybe it could be extended elsewhere....(and support wildcards?)
If implemented, maybe it could be put into use with a <SmartUninstall> command?

Re: Kill all non system processes
That will help. Thanks, Fred.
Did I see a thread somewhere here where someone rolled their Portable and UVKSR files/etc into a sfx zip file for remote usage?

Re: Kill all non system processes
I understand what you're saying (thanks) but not sure how it relates to my question. How are you preventing the process killer part of UVK from killing off your connection software?
"have added exclusions" <--that part, specifically.

Re: UVK Doesn't Survive Reboot
since the new release uvk doesn't survive reboot, i've tested it on different pc's, does not work anymore. Just did my first test on this on my XP laptop, running a script with a few basic built-in scans. 1/3 through, ADWcleaner rebooted and UVK didn't start back up. Admin-rights user, incidentally...

Re: Kill all non system processes
“KillemAll” is actually a d7 application. UVK’s process killer is a different program. I use UVK’s process killing application all the time and have added exclusions so it doesn’t kill my remote support application when working remotely. Maybe the name should be changed to “Ultra Process Killer” ;)...

Just opened up my ol' XP laptop that's never seen UVK before and drag/dropped a script with a few of the scanner commands and got the same results as first posted here where it wants to delete the .uvk

Re: How am I drag'n'dropping wrong here?
As for the UAK whitelist, you have a whitelist manager with export /import option in the Menu button. Use that feature to export to an INI file. Is there anyway to include that whitelist when running the command from a script so that they're always excluded from scan results? In order to work from ...

Re: How am I drag'n'dropping wrong here?
UVK locked up when I cancelled a script and ended up with Explorer restarting. When that was done, the drag/drop started acting more like I'd expect it to. I knew UVK could delete files but assumed that its own files were exceptions (and they are). Can I suggest "Always Uninstall" be anoth...

How am I drag'n'dropping wrong here?
I've no idea how this even happening. 1) Dropped .uvk script onto Portable. 2) Icons flicker on the taskbar for a split second. 3) "The selected item will be moved to the recycle bin Y/N" (for a one-time script?) 4) "Uninstall portable version?" (there's no option to tell it to a...
