Re: Been a long time!

I can't blame the email because I don't check it so often. It is good to hear that you are hanging in there though Bill. Sorry about your health but that setup by the lake sounds nice. Just continue to enjoy life as much as possible. Cheers

Re: Import - Export setting

I know it has been a few months ago but, in the meantime before Fred gets UVK backup and recovery completed... I have always used Fab's Autobackup for this kind of operation and found it to be (mostly) sufficient. https://www.fpnet.fr/

cheers

Re: Been a long time!

@ Fred: There are other tools sets that are equivalent to yours? I think you are mistaken. If it's not in the UVK then its in the Tech Tool Store.

@Bill: Thanks, you do the same. Try not to get too cold up there!

Been a long time!

Hello everyone! Been so long that I feel I should introduce myself again. I'm Brink. I still use UVK on a regular basis and it has always served me well. Thanks to Fred for creating such an awesome tool! I have just been so busy with many other things besides PC repair and UVK has worked so ...

Can we answer the question "How did my computer become infected?"

When a customer brings us computer it almost always has some form of malware. Nearly every time the customer will ask this question. "How did my computer become infected?" All of the tools that we use to repair a virus-infected computer scan through the computer's hard drive finding nasty stuff then ...

Re: Looking for Bond info

Well I have not been here for a while Jim. I'm not bonded either. I am also clean on a criminal records check. I believe that what you were asking about back in March though is called a surety bond. A surety bond pays your customer in the event that you fail to preform a contracted task. It is ...

RANT - Windows 7 update hell.

Windows 7. Yes I know there are newer os versions for a long time now. But folks seem to like windows 7. Maybe it's a misguided attempt to hold on to the past, maybe they are afraid of change or maybe they tried the free windows 10 when it was offered and simply didn't like it. But for ...

Re: Built-in scans not firing

I have noticed Mbam not working for me either. I ran: Reset DNS, Reset host file and DNS, Reset IP Winsock and Proxies, Reset Group Policies, Reset and Fix Firewall, and Reset Registry and file perms. Then ran Mbam again. Nothing. So I ran the same fixes listed above again and then Mbam again. It ...

Re: New system Deployment

Tasneem, You are describing as process that is called "System Image Deployment". UVK (Ultra Virus Killer) is a software that is designed to make the process of cleaning up after a virus infection easier. System deployment is likely beyond the scope of function for why UVK was originally conceived ...

Re: Backup and recovery help page

Nice feature.

Would be cool if it would also backup and restore to and from a foreign HD. (One that was pulled from a system that will not start anymore) One more reason that we need UVK to run from a PE. :) hint hint.

Merry Christmas

Re: Store apps uninstaller not tested on Windows 8

Hi Fred. I just tried this feature on a windows 8.1 64bit Lenovo Laptop. Tried the "Check Usual/None" and that worked as expected. Also ticked McAffee Security advisor for Lenovo. That also worked properly. Thanks for adding this feature.
