Re: Competition
Just a heads-up. I was in on d7 at its beginnings and, around the time they switched the name to d7x, the support went to total crap. The forums were basically abandoned and, the rare time someone poked their nose in, they were banning people calling that out.

Re: Software updater
Until WAU includes this, for my little residential RMM clients, I drop PatchMyPC in my hidden folder and use its Settings to set it to run as a scheduled task every few days. It doesn't update everything out there but it's got a decent list - most of the stuff my clients use at any rate.

Use WinRar to create an SFX file with them in it, and then set it to launch the exe upon unpacking.

Sebastian, Fred IS the support/developer of this software.
Do you know where you are on the internet?
Ahhh, you added text to my quote to make it look like I made that statement. Yeah, you're just a spammer and you're reported.

Re: UVK Portable Custom Apps Issue
Hi, Fred. I hadn't even noticed that option had been added in the last while but checked it out today. I'm getting the same thing.
Tried adding a simple DOS command to the More section and am unable to edit it once it's been entered. I also cannot Delete it in order to try re-entering the command ...

Re: Could you maybe prompt the user instead of making assumptions?
You are making some pretty bold assumptions about how I want to go about handling the locked files/folders that I input into the program, and I don't appreciate it.
That's not an assumption -- at that point, you had already asked UVK to delete those files. Deliberately and on purpose; "that I ...

Is there a beta version that we could try out on our own systems and help test it out for you?

Re: WAU / MRS ... hybrid? Update/reboot/repeat til done
Honestly hadn't considered a script as I figured the reboots would cancel out the process.
What are you thinking? A script that would run MUA, wait a set amount of time, reboot, and repeat those steps several times? Would it be able to persist over reboots?

WAU / MRS ... hybrid? Update/reboot/repeat til done
I used to use WSUS Offline Updater but, with all the lockdowns and doing a lot more remote work, that's no longer practical.
I've thought a bunch of times about asking for this and even thought I had but I'll put it down now.... I've got a few clients that don't turn their PCs on for weeks or even ...

Re: Rebootexec - could it run the watermark without the parameter?
How is it that I've tried running it a bunch of times and I've never seen that window? Tried it again on two PCs and it didn't show a window.
I've run MRS and APF on different machines as portable apps, copying over no other files and they've never complained that Rebootexec was not present.

Rebootexec - could it run the watermark without the parameter?
I thought I'd use it for remote jobs - send it over for its 'at a glance' info but it seems to need to be run with a "-desktopwatermark" parameter. But it doesn't seem to do anything when called without any parameters (I'm assuming it has other functions).

Account Profile Fixer -- mostly worked...?
Laptop with a flawed hard drive which I'll replace tomorrow. While it's still booting (but sooo slow), thought I'd try to fix the software-level stuff I see so that the cloning will copy a better version of Windows.

Re: Un-Hide User Accounts on the Windows Login Screen
This is one reason why I usually offer to set up my clients for remote support. In this instance, I'd still be able to use cmd lines in the background and use a Net User command here. I could use things like RegQuery/etc cmds as well if necessary. I'm lucky, though, that I bought into Screenconnect ...

KB4537821 for Win8 has a similar effect. Thought the first was a regular glitch until I had another one a few days later.

Re: Minor UVKSR thing - Sticky Notes
Think I figured it out. Just swap the two commands -- run StikyNot but only if the StickyNote App is not available.
