This will allow you to run
applications even when the file extensions have been damaged by
malware or to download files when your browser is infected.
Examples:
To open this page enter

To run cmd commands
enter cmd /c or

You can use all
UVK suported environment variables
to
simplify writing common paths.
UVK will keep history
of the last 15 used commands that you can easily select by clicking
the small arrow on the right side of the run bar. To delete this
history click Delete history.
Fix a file extension:
To fix a file
extension, just select the one you want to fix from the combo box
right after Select extension: and then click
Fix extension(s).
Supported extensions
are: .exe,
.msi,
.reg,
.bat,
.cmd, .com
and .vbs.
If you wish to fix
all the seven extensions at once, select All from the combo box and
then click Fix extension(s).
UVK can help you to
prevent these file extensions from being changed again. Just click
the button Lock all extensions,
and confirm that you wish to protect the registry keys from being
changed. This feature is also available from a UVK script with the command
<ProtectFileExtensions>
This can be undone by
clicking the button Unlock extensions,
which will reset the access permissions for the registry keys.

Other tools and fixes:
Important: If you
are using the UVK immunization feature, you should un-immunize all
areas before using the UVK fixes. Many of them will not work when
your system is immunized.
Enable
and run (select) will show a set of tools that you can enable
and run immediately as described below:
Registry Editor: Enable and run regedit.exe.
System Restore: Enable and run the System Restore.
Task
Manager: Enable and run the Windows task manager as
administrator.
MsConfig: Enable and run the System configuration tool.
Control UserPasswords2: Run this hidden control panel, allowing
to configure how users log in and auto-logon.
Device Manager: Run the device manager.
Group and Users Manager:
Run this MMC snap-in that allows to configure, create, delete
disable and enable user accounts.
Service Manager: Run the Windows service manager as
administrator.
DiskPart: Run the command line diskpart.exe utility as
administrator.
Command prompt: Run cmd.exe as administrator.
Local Group Policy: Run GpEdit.msc, allowing to edit the local
group policy.
Event Viewer: Run the Windows event viewer.
Blue
Screen Viewer: UVK includes the BlueScreenView, from
nirsoft.net. Clicking this
line will run it as administrator.
.Net Framework cleanup tool:
UVK will run this tool from
Aaron Stebner, included in UVK 1.4, allowing to uninstall the
selected versions of the .Net Framework. This should be used only if the
.Net framework is damaged and you can not uninstall/repair it by other
means.
Windows installer cleanup: UVK will
launch this old and very useful tool from Microsoft. Use it to clean
windows installer orphan entries and files, that are preventing your
applications from being installed.
Each one of these
tools will be run with administrator privileges.

Toggle enable/disable will
allow you to toggle the sate of a few windows features: It will
display a message box informing you of the current state of the
feature, and asking if you want to toggle it. If you click
Yes,
the state will be inverted, if you click
NO, the state will not be
changed.
Currently available
features to toggle are: User administrator account, Guest user
account, User account control (UAC), Autoplay function, USB disc
write protection, View hidden files and folders, View system
protected files, View known file extensions, File and folder info
tips, Hibernation, Auto end tasks, Quick menu display, Screensaver
and the System restore.
UVK fixes list:
UVK 1.4.1+ displays
the fixes in a multi-selection list view table. You have the fix
name in the first column, and its description in the second.
To run a single fix,
double-click the corresponding line. To select several fixes, hold
Ctrl
down while clicking the corresponding lines. After selecting all the
desired fixes, click Run selected fixes.
Check
Unattended mode
if you want UVK to run the selected fixes without displaying any
message boxes. The selected fixes will be executed in sequence, from
top to bottom, and requiring no user interaction.
Currently available
fixes are:
Reset IE and internet settings
will open the dialog box "Reset Internet settings". Use
this fix if your internet explorer isn't working properly or if
you're having troubles accessing the internet through IE. This fix
is also available from a UVK script with the command
<ResetIEAndInternet>.
Reset the hosts file and DNS: This
fix will flush the dns and reset the hosts file. Use it if your
computer denies to access some trustful domains like antivirus or
Microsoft websites. This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<ResetHostsAndDns>.
Reset IP, Winsock and proxy: Use this fix if
your internet connection doesn't work properly, due to malware
damages, or other reason. Remember this fix is a reset to defaults.
All the current IP, Winsock and proxy settings will be deleted. This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<ResetIPWinsockProxy>.
Reset
the group policies: Reset the local group policies to their defaults in gpedit.msc and the registry. This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<ResetGroupPolicy>.
Reset and fix the
Windows firewall: Use this fix if
the Windows firewall has been disabled or corrupted by some malware
and you can't enable or repair it manually. Remember this fix is a
reset to defaults. All custom firewall settings will be deleted. This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<FixWindowsFirewall>.
Reset registry and file permissions:
If you select to run this fix, you'll be
prompted to confirm to reset the registry and file access
permissions. This fix is also
available from a UVK script with the command
<ResetSecuritySettings>.
Reset security with secedit:
This fix will use secedit.exe to reset the registry and file access
permissions. This fix is also
available from a UVK script with the command
<ResetPermissionsSecedit>.
Reset user default settings:
This fix will reset the user registry settings as if a new user had
been created. However, no registry entries will be deleted. The
values will be copied from the default user's hive. It will be done
on the next reboot, and can be canceled by clicking
Cancel reset user defaults on reboot,
in the
UVK Options
section.
Reset user shell folders:
This fix will reset the registry entries for the User Shell Folders
key (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders). It's also
available from a UVK script with the command
<ResetUserShellFolders>.

Fix the WMI and the System restore:
Sometimes the WMI is corrupted, which also prevents the system
restore from working. This fix will repair both the WMI core and the
system restore service.
It's also available from a UVK script with the command <FixWMIAndSR>.
Fix IE and the Windows shell:
This fix will repair possible Windows shell hijacks and register the
files needed for it to work properly.
It's also available from a UVK script with the command <FixIEAndWindowsShell>.
Fix
install problems will repair common installation issues. It
fixes appdata environment variable, restarts and reinstalls Windows
installer service, repairs and empties temporary folders.
This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<FixInstallProblems>
Fix
Windows sidebar: Use this fix if your sidebar gadgets aren't working or
displaying properly. This button will be disabled if windows sidebar
is not installed on the machine. This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<FixWindowsSidebar>1.
Fix desktop icons and context menu:
A new fix to fight modern malware effects. It enables the desktop
itself, the icons displaying and the context menu. This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<FixUserDesktop>.
Fix and enable Windows update: This fix can be very useful if Windows Update has
been disabled by malware. It enables and restarts WU service,
registers the necessary dll's for this service and enables Windows
updates. You'll also be prompted to delete Windows Update history
and temporary files. If you click No, these actions won't be
executed. This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<FixWindowsUpdate>.
Fix shortcuts, urls and protocols:
Use this fix
if your desktop or internet shortcuts don't work, or if the programs
don't open your browser when you click on the links. This fix is
also available from a UVK script with the command
<FixShortcutsUrlsProtocols>.
Fix the EventSystem service:
Use this fix if you can no longer login to your account, or when you
log in, the system account is used instead of yours. Note: This fix
is not available on Xp. This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<FixEventSystemService>.
Fix the SubSystems key:
Some malware hijack the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\SubSystems registry key. This fix will repair it. It's also available from a UVK script with the command
<FixSubSystemsKey>.

Check the system drive on reboot:
This fix will schedule the system
drive to be checked on next reboot.
It's also available
from a UVK script with the command <ScheduleChkDskOnReboot>.
Cancel Chkdsk on reboot:
If Chkdsk is scheduled to check the system drive on reboot or the
dirty bit has been set, this fix will cancel it.
Unhide user files and folders:
Some modern malware hides the user's files and folders, UVK will
make them visible again. However, there are some system files and
folders that should be kept hidden, like
the AppData, Recent, or the Start menu folders, and the desktop.ini,
thumbs.db, index.dat or user.dat* files, etc. UVK will not unhide
these items. This fix is also available
from a UVK script with the command
<UnhideUserFiles>.
Rebuild icon cache:
Use this fix if the Windows
explorer doesn't display the icons correctly.
This fix is also available
from a UVK script with the command <RebuildIconCache>.

This fix will install or update (if already installed)

Install/Update Java:

Install/Update Flash:

Install .Net Framework:
This fix will install or update (if already installed)
the
.Net Framework in unattended
mode. This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command

Install Windows Fixit Center:
This fix will install or run (if already installed)
the Microsoft tool Windows Fixit
center. The download and install are automated.

Empty all users temp folders: This fix
will empty the temporary folders for all users.
This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<CleanAllUsersTemp>.
Empty all browsers cache will
cleanup the cache for all installed internet browsers. This will be
done only for the current user's folders. Supported browsers are:
Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari.
This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<EmptyBrowsersCache>.
Delete all browsers cookies will
delete the cookies for all installed internet browsers. This will be
done only for the current user's folders. Supported browsers are:
Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari.

<DeleteBrowsersCookies>.
Free physical memory
will release memory used by the applications by emptying their
working set. Usually this doesn't affect performance, but users
should use this feature only if they are running out of memory. This
fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<FreePhysicalMemory>.

Run sfc scan:
This fix will run the system protected resources scan (sfc.exe /scannow).
This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<RunScfScan>.
Register system DLLs:
This fix will
register all the Windows DLLs in the System32 folder.
Register all system dlls is a unique
UVK feature that can solve many problems related to Windows
explorer, Windows update, missing services, installation problems,
runtime errors, missing windows features, system working too slow
and many other problems. This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<RegisterSystemDLLs>.
Delete all restore points:
This fix deletes all existing system restore points. It is also
available from a UVK script with the command
<DeleteAllRestorePoints>.
Create a system restore point:
This fix creates a restore point named UVK Fix. It is also available
from a UVK script with the command
<CreateRestorePoint>.
Defrag & optimize: This fix
will add some registry tweaks to
reduce the shutdown and boot time, defrag all the hard drives to
improve performance and process the idle tasks to reduce the boot
time.
Please note that the boot
optimization can't be stopped and will only take effect after
rebooting the computer at least twice. Also, defragging the hard
drives can take a long time depending on how fragmented they are,
their size and the system speed. This fix is also available from a UVK script with the command
<DefragAndOptimize>.
